I understand that as a creative there may be things that occasionally you need some help with. At times it is not easy to see the wood for the trees and it is difficult to prioritise what you should do or when.
With my considerable experience and knowledge working within the creative industries I am able to objectively help you make decisions about where you want to take your creative practice.
At the heart of my mentoring is a discussion about what really motivates you as a creative.
What sort of work would you really like to make? Who would you like to see and appreciate your work? Where would you like to be in one, three and five years?
I am a firm believer round pegs belong in round holes and that as creatives we have to be honest with ourselves, our abilities and ideas. Essentially you have to believe in yourself and I can help you to ensure that you are able to confidently progress your work and practice.
Working together I can help you with all aspects of bringing your creative practice to new audiences and markets. As I tailor our mentoring sessions specifically to you I can help with a range of issues and because I have lots of friends and associates in the creative industries, if I can’t help with something, I can often find someone who can.
Subjects covered during mentoring sessions can include:
Reviewing your work and portfolio
Preparing for interviews and college applications
Artists Statements
Curating your work
Exhibition Preparation
Marketing your work
Finding new audiences
Selling and Pricing your work
Business Finances
Making funding applications
As a very experienced teacher who has worked in art schools throughout my career I understand that for many creative people writing is not easy. I appreciate that creativity and dyslexia, for example, are very closely linked and I am able to provide practical help with writing where needed.
If I can assist with these, or any other aspects of being creative that you need help with, do get in touch. I am friendly, a very good listener and I will always be honest and impartial in my response to you and your work.
